Tottenham Hotspur are well in contention for a place in the Champions League next season but Mauricio Pochettino will be aware of the changes needed in the squad, to help them compete for silverware next season. They are expected to be busy in the transfer market, trying to improve the squad and might also be looking to sell a few players who do not fit in.
One such player who has not been able to kick off his Spurs career is Fernando Llorente. The Spanish star only joined the club last summer but has not been able to serve his purpose and reports now claim that he could be sold in the summer. So where can Llorente play next? Here are three English destinations for the former Swansea hitman:
Newcastle United:
The Magpies were interested in Llorente before he decided to join Spurs. And there is no reason for the Magpies to shy away from him this summer. The 33-year old showed that he has what it takes in his stint with Swansea and has at least another year at his best to give to the Premier League. His style of play fits in well with Rafa Benitez, who can play to the strengths of his fellow countryman. He may not be a first-team option regularly but is certainly a player Newcastle should give a shot.
Watford:
The Hornets have shown that they are good enough to play in the top flight for a few years now but they need players who can change games on their head and Llorente is a decent option for them. With Troy Deeney their best option to lead the line, it will not hurt them to have another experienced name in the dressing room. Llorente is a decorated player, who can not only add a presence in the box late in the game but can also lead the line from the start, against the best teams in the country. Surely, Watford is a decent destination for Llorente.
Everton:
The Toffees are yet to replace Romelu Lukaku on goal and though they will look for a younger option, that can solve the problem for years to come, they need an experienced head in the dressing room, that can allow them to settle into life after Lukaku. They will be in search of a striker again this summer and might want to spend on a more exciting name but Llorente is the kind of a player who can allow them to ease the transition.
