As per one of the latest reports by Daily Record, Celtic are yet to come to a conclusion with Tom Rogic over the contract extension of the Australian international. Rogic is out of contract at the end of next season and is yet to give his consent on extending his stay at the Celtic Park. The Hoops desperately need him and there is no denying that.
With a domestic treble to chase and headlines to make in the World Cup to be held later this year in Russia, Rogic has testing times lying up ahead for him. Although the representatives of the playmaker and the chiefs of the Glasgow based outfit are going on, the Celts might considering cashing him in the summer if the situation doesn’t turn in their favour.
Leeds United are expected to be one of the clubs to be keenly watching the proceedings. The Whites, after making a strong start to their Championship season under the tutelage of Thomas Christiansen, have withered in the race for promotion to the Premier League. Even after the appointment of Paul Heckingbottom as the manager post Christiansen’s departure, Leeds United have flattered to deceive.
The Peacocks are languishing at the 14 spot in the league table, having collected 50 points from 38 games. Heckingbottom must try to significantly beef up the quality of his arsenal in the summer to substantiate their claim for promotion to the English top flight. Frankly speaking, someone like Rogic could meet his needs next season as he has the cutting edge which Heckingbottom needs in his set-up.
The 25-year-old has been directly involved in 13 goals for the Celts from the midfield so far this season and his vision and creativity has been instrumental for Brendan Rodgers’ side this campaign. He is a cunning attacker who has plenty of experience under his belt and has the know-how to create chances for his teammates. Besides, he showcases immense work-ethic to make his presence felt and steps up in big games more often than not.
Rogic is arguably the hottest property that Australia has on offer and he would certainly be a galvanizing signing. He can operate as a central attacking midfielder as well as a deep-lying playmaker and he has the potential to walk straightaway into Leeds United’s starting line-up. However, the Peacocks do not have an enormous financial muscle to meet his wages but if they somehow manage to meet the player’s needs, he could be a galvanizing newcomer at the Elland Road.
