West Ham United have faced a tumultuous season, to say the least, in the 2017/18 Premier League campaign. They found themselves in the bottom three with a number of results going against them during the opening half of the season, which resulted in the sacking of their Croatian gaffer Slaven Bilic.
However, the Hammers were fighting a battle of revival and started to show signs of improvement under the tutelage of their new manager David Moyes, as they came out triumphant on a number of occasions including a hard-fought 1-0 win over the defending champions Chelsea.
Currently, they are placed at the 12th position on the league table, having bagged 34 points from their 27 matches so far. Moyes is well aware of the fact that his reputation is at stake here and would like to see his side finish in the top ten despite having limited ammunition at his disposal.
Having said that, the main area of problem for the east London side seems to be their midfield. Though the Hammers brought in Portuguese midfield ace Joao Mario from Serie A side Inter Milan on loan till the end of the season in the winter transfer window, the 25 year old has not been able to handle the situation in the best possible way, making the Scottish gaffer look for reinforcements to revamp his side in the next transfer market.
The former Manchester United boss has been busy scouting players from a number of clubs in and around England but it seems that the answer to his woes is sitting pretty in his own homeland, playing in the Scottish Premiership. John McGinn, the 23-year-old midfield star from Hibernian, has been high on the radar of the Hammers manager and there is a possibility that he might bid for him in the summer.
Known for his ability to play with energy and vigour, the Scotsman has been one of the stars for his side. He has played a pivotal role for them and has been one of the most influential figures in the squad. His tenacity and high work rate have attracted the eyes of a number of clubs from England and West Ham United are no stranger to that.
The player has only 12 months left on his contract at the Scottish outfit and there is a high possibility for the Hammers to bid for him in the next transfer window. Though his current club is unwilling to let go of their prized possession, the attraction to play in the Premier League might be too much to resist for the 23-year-old, who has been valued at £5 million by Hibernian.
