Tottenham Hotspur are looking to secure the services of Watford winger Richarlison next summer. According to recent reports in the English media, Spurs are plotting a move for the 20-year-old Brazilian who has caught the eye with his dazzling displays for the Hornets during this campaign. Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino wants to bolster his attacking option ahead of the new campaign and add more support for Harry Kane. It is believed that the Argentinian manager has been impressed by £30m-rated Richarlison who has lit up the league in his first Premier League campaign.
The Brazilian’s current contract with Watford runs until the summer of 2022 and has also reportedly attracted the attention of Chelsea, after finding the back of the net 5 times this season as a wide forward at Vicarage Road.
Richarlison joined the Hornets for £13m last summer from Fluminense and his value seems to have skyrocketed with Watford looking to make more than double the money they paid for the striker. He has made 30 appearances for the Hertfordshire outfit in all competitions and has already proven himself in the top tier of English football.
Tottenham Hotspur are currently in 5th place in the Premier League table, just a point behind fourth-placed Chelsea with just 11 league matches remaining this term. Spurs are hoping to finish in the top 4 so that they can ensure Champions League football for the next campaign. However, they are a massive 20 points behind the league leaders Manchester City and are in need dire need to bring in some reinforcements in the summer to bridge the gap between themselves and the Premier League’s ‘Top 4’ in the next few years. The possible addition of Richarlison next summer will undoubtedly bolster Mauricio Pochettino’s attacking options ahead of the new season.
The Brazilian is highly versatile and can operate in a number of different positions across the frontline. He can play on either flank or in the number 10 position which makes him an ideal asset for any team. At 20, the Hornets attacker has immense potential which Spurs could look to utilise in the coming seasons if they manage to secure his signature in the near future. He has adapted to the Premier League well and could turn out to be a shrewd piece of business for the North Londoners as they look to compete in four different competitions next term.
It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of the Brazilian forward and whether he ends up moving to Spurs in the summer.
