Napoli midfielder, Amadou Diawara’s agent has told Tuttomercatoweb that interests are dropping in from Premier League sides over his client. The 20-year-old is not satisfied with the minutes that he has been given this season and wants to make the exit. His agent, Daniele Piraino said, It’s not easy to find the right tempo in a match situation if you only play every couple of months, especially considering his role in midfield. As soon as he gets to play more consistently, we’ll see the same world-class player as last season.”
It was earlier reported that Tottenham Hotspur were the ringleaders in the race to sign the highly rated defensive midfielder and were closely monitoring his progress in the Serie A. The North London side were preparing a bid in the region of £33m but none of it materialised over the January transfer window.
Diawara is tied down with the Serie A league leaders till the summer of 2021 and has made 22 appearances this season. Diawara was discovered by Numukeh Tunkara who paved the Guinea-born midfielders signing with Lega Pro side, San Marino in 2014 – his first professional contract.
Primarily a holding midfielder, Diawara possesses all the traits of a dominant superstar at the heart of the park. In his limited minutes for the I Ciucciarelli, the youngster has displayed great maturity and composure.
Diawara is certainly one of the brightest young prospects in the Serie A and will soon be on the wishlist of multitudinous European sides. Tottenham will credit themselves by noticing his talents early and are eager to make a swoop before any other side in the Premier League catches the trail.
Mauricio Pochettino has struggled to compete in multiple tournaments with the lack of much depth in the squad. Victor Wanyama’s injury left a huge gap around the centre circle with no quality option to pick up the responsibilities. Mousa Dembele has been far from his usual standards this season and has been linked with offers away from the club.
Harry Winks has been rotated around as a likely replacement but his injury concerns have stagnated his progress into the first team.
The fans at Wembley have witnessed a season of highs and lows with the side still festered in the 5th spot of the Premier League. Their European campaign has been impressive so far but it came with a price earlier in the season.
Pochettino’s men dropped crucial points in the months of September and October when the Champions League group stages matches were scheduled alongside the Premier League games.
Diawara is a proven young talent and who can be fielded ahead of Winks and be the prime replacement for the wantaway Moussa Dembele.
