Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a summer move for Netherlands under-21 international Justin Kluivert. According to a recent report by Talksport, Spurs are among a whole host of clubs monitoring his situation at Ajax ahead of a possible summer swoop for the teenage starlet. Mauricio Pochettino’s side are set to battle it out with the likes of Barcelona, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United in pursuit of his signature. The 18-year-old has been in sensational form since breaking into the Ajax first-team last year and has gathered the attention of some European giants in recent times.
Justin is the son of former Netherlands striker Patrick Kluivert and has put in some dazzling displays for Ajax this season. However, the Dutch Eredivisie outfit has failed in their attempts to make him sign a long-term deal with his current contract set to run until the summer of 2019. Hence, it is set to be a potentially viable deal for the North London club as they try to recruit him for the future.
It is believed that his father wants him to stay in Holland to continue with his development at the Johan Cruijff Arena.
Tottenham Hotspur are currently in 5th place in the Premier League standings, just a point behind fourth-placed Chelsea with just 11 league matches remaining this term. Spurs are hoping to finish in the top 4 so that they can ensure Champions League football for the next campaign.
However, they are a staggering 20 points behind the league leaders Manchester City and are in need dire need to bring in some reinforcements in the summer to bridge the gap between themselves and the Premier League’s ‘Top 4’ in the next few years. The potential addition of Kluivert will undoubtedly bolster Mauricio Pochettino’s attacking options going forward.
The Dutch youngster has immense potential and could turn out to be a future Premier League star if he can continue with his development in the next few years. Justin Kluivert has featured in 26 matches for Ajax this season and has scored 7 goals and made 4 assists so far in all competitions. He is definitely a player with a lot of promise and can thrive under Pochettino if given the opportunity to showcase his talents in North London. He is versatile as well and can operate on either flank which makes him an ideal asset for any of his potential suitors. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Kluivert and whether he ends up making a switch to the Premier League next summer.
