Swansea City have secured the services of Andre Ayew on the transfer deadline day. According to Sky Sports, the Swans have sealed a move for the Ghanaian international from West Ham for a club-record fee of £18m. Ayew signed for the Hammers from Swansea in the summer of 2016 but is now set to return to the Liberty Stadium, where his brother Jordan Ayew is also plying his trade. The 28-year-old has joined on a three-and-a-half-year deal which will keep him at the Welsh club until the summer of 2021.
Ayew will wear the number 19 shirt for the Swans as he tries to rescue the Welsh outfit from a potential relegation at the end of the season. He found the back of the net six times in 24 appearances in the first half of the season for West Ham across all competitions before making a switch to Swansea.
The Hammers released a statement after Ayew’s departure which said: “Everyone at West Ham United wishes Andre a successful future with Swansea City.”
With the Ghanaian set to be reunited with his brother at Swansea, let’s take a look at the strongest Swansea lineup that their manager Carlos Carvalhal can make use of going into the second half of the season.
4-3-3 Swansea City Predicted Strongest XI With Andre Ayew In The Team
Defence
Łukasz Fabiański will start in goal for the Swans and should be shielded by a backline of Mike van der Hoorn, Kyle Bartley, and Alfie Mawson. The Swansea defenders have shipped in 36 goals in 25 league matches in this Premier League season but have done well since the appointment of Carlos Carvalhal in December last year.
Midfield
The midfield duo of Samuel Clucas and Ki Sung-Yeung should be deployed at the centre of the park with Martin Olsson operating on the left flank and Kyle Naughton starting on the right side of the midfield.
All four of these players have been integral in Swansea’s triumphs over Liverpool and Arsenal in their last two league outings.
Attack
The Swansea City front three will consist of Andre Ayew, Wilfried Bony, and Jordan Ayew. The Ayew brothers will be reunited up top and have the ability to cause havoc in the opposition half. The Welsh outfit has scored only 18 goals in 25 league matches this season but with the arrival of Andre Ayew and the great form of Jordan Ayew of late, Carvalhal’s team will be optimistic about their chances going into the second half of their campaign.
