Manchester United will be delighted to hear about Franck Kessie’s aspirations to one day play for them and this has sent the media outlets into a frenzy over a possible transfer in the summer window. Kessie is currently serving a 2-year loan spell with Serie A side, AC Milan away from his parent club, Atalanta and has made 37 total appearances in all competitions this season.
Franck Kessie played the saviour for Milan on 21 January as he scored twice to seal a comeback win over Cagliari in Serie A. Kessie levelled from a penalty in the 35th minute and struck again six minutes later to double his tally for the season to four goals.
He has been an influential presence at the heart of the park for the Rossoneri and has received high praise from fans and critics alike. Gennaro Gattuso has utilised him in the holding midfield role and the Ivorian has fit into the side like a fish to water.
He has bossed the midfield on multiple occasions and is a defensive enforcer with his strong tackling and interception abilities.
Kessie is a product of the Stella Club d’Adjamé but later signed with Atalanta in January 2015. He was called up to the senior side against AS Roma on 18th April 2015 and was left as an unused sub. The 21-year-old spent a season out on loan to Cesena to further his development before making the return to Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia.
He has been a star performer from a very young age and judging by the season he is currently enjoying, the central midfielder has an illustrious career ahead of him if he makes all the right moves.
Manchester United might be in the market for a midfield addition after being linked to several high profile names in Europe. Jose Mourinho currently implements Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay around the centre circle and has backup options in Ander Herrera, Andy Carrick and Marouane Fellaini.
Fellaini is expected to make an exit from Old Trafford after his contract runs out in the summer and the former Galactico boss will have to bring in able bodies to replace him. He has already made key additions to the final third with Alexis Sanchez’s signing in the January window and Romelu Lukaku’s £75m summer arrival.
The Red Devils are still alive in the Champions Leagues and are hoping to finish the season in the second spot of the Premier League along with an FA Cup trophy, now that their bitter rivals, Manchester City have bowed out of the competition.
While Kessie might not be on Mourinho’s shortlist for possible additions, the Portuguese tactician should at least look into the Ivory Coast international’s game and make a decision ahead of the summer window.
