Real Madrid are looking to secure the services of Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante next summer. According to recent reports in the Spanish press, the Blues midfielder is gathering interest from Los Blancos as they look to bolster their defensive options ahead of the new campaign. The PFA Player of the Year has built a reputation around the world for his awareness of the ball and his wonderful defensive talents. He is often been likened to ex-Real Madrid and Chelsea midfielder, Claude Makelele for his style of play.
Kante has featured in 31 matches for Chelsea this season in all competitions and has a Premier League goal to his name. He joined the reigning Premier League champions from Leicester City in the summer of 2016 and has helped the west London outfit to a Premier League title in the last campaign. The 26-year-old has also earned 20 international caps for the French national team and has scored a goal for his nation.
Real Madrid are currently in 4th place in the La Liga table, a massive 19 points behind their rivals and league leaders Barcelona. Zinedine Zidane’s side are in dire need of reinforcements in the summer and the addition of someone of the calibre of Kante can turn out to be a shrewd piece of business from the Galacticos.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are currently in fourth place in the Premier League standings, a massive 19 points behind league leaders Manchester City going into Monday’s night game against Watford at Vicarage Road. Antonio Conte’s men have fallen off the pace in the title race and the possible departure of N’Golo Kante to Real Madrid in the summer could leave their chances of closing the gap to the Manchester clubs in tatters if they fail to bring in a suitable replacement capable of filling the shoes of the French midfielder.
The reigning European champions can definitely use someone like Kante in their midfield. He is a player who can put in a defensive shift while letting their attacking talents do their job in the opposition half. An acquisition like that could help them bridge the gap between themselves and Barcelona going into the new campaign. The 26-year-old knows what it takes to win, having won back to back Premier League titles with Leicester City and Chelsea respectively which makes him an ideal asset for Los Blancos to consider.
