Rangers FC fans will be thrilled to hear that Chinese Super League outfit, Beijing Renhe are no longer pursuing a move for their young striker, Alfredo Morelos. The Scottish Premiership outfit had previously rejected a £8m bid from the Beijing club. The 21-year-old had attracted heavy interests from multiple clubs in the Far East but it looks like his contractual demands might just be met by the Gers.
The move would have promised a significant wage hike which he will have to compromise upon if he wants to play in the Premier League someday. The Chinese League is not the ideal place to prove your talents as much as it is an outlet to accumulate ridiculous amounts of wealth.
Plenty of big names have made their way out of Europe and towards China. Brazilian duo, Hulk and Oscar got signed up to Shanghai SIPG on multi-million dollar deals. Such is the trend currently – if you make it in Europe, the bosses of Super League clubs are willing to splash astronomical amounts of cash to land their services.
However, Morelos is still just 21 and has yet to experience the full force of top-flight football in Europe. If he performs well for Rangers, who knows? Maybe serious interests will start dropping in from the biggest leagues – English Premier League, La Liga or the Bundesliga.
Former Rangers manager, Pedro Caixinha got Morelos to the Ibrox stadium for £1m in the summer of 2017 and the Colombian has hit the ground running this season. He has racked up an impressive tally of 13 goals in 29 all round appearances and is currently the leading scorer of the Scottish Premiership. Morelos has turned himself the lethal threat that he is today through hard work and dedication. His rise from the youth ranks of HJK Helsinki has been meteoric and rewarding for the Gers.
The fans at Ibrox Stadium are pleased to see their side contending for the league title but on the other hand, will be disappointed to see Celtic close in on their seventh consecutive Scottish Premiership trophy.
They are 11 points behind their rivals in the second spot of the points table and while the chase is almost an impossible task, they remain hopeful. They are coming off a 2-0 win over Partick Thistle on Sunday and are well staged to continue their winning run. Continuing the winning streak is in their best interests along with holding down the services of Morelos, who can turn out to be a very important factor in their pursuit of glory.
