Reports coming out of Sky Sports has revealed that Paris Saint-Germain left-back, Layvin Kurzawa is currently evaluating his future with the Ligue 1 outfit. The club manager, Unai Emery has rotated him around with last summer arrival, Yuri Berchiche in the backline and this has forced Kurzawa to question his importance at the Parc des Princes.
Blessed with a solid left-foot, Kurzawa is adept at playing on both ends of the pitch. The entire front line with Neymar in front of him depends on the Frenchman’s drilled in crosses from the left flank to slot in goals with ease. Kurzawa is a product of the AS Monaco academy and played his formative years with the club making 95 all around appearances. He arrived at the Parc des Prince in the summer of 2015, for a fee in the region of €22m.
He has racked up 5 goals and 2 assists in 18 appearances for the club this season – a brilliant statistic for a defender. He earned his first career hat-trick against RSC Anderlecht on 31st October and subsequently went on to become the first defender to do so in the modern Champions League.
His unsettlement will arouse the interests of many European clubs and a few of the Premier League sides might join in the race to sign the 25-year-old.
Manchester United
Everybody is well aware of United’s defensive issues and after being linked to several high profile names, Mourinho is yet to sign a left-back. He snapped up the opportunity to sign Alexis Sanchez and handed him a blockbuster contract which unequivocally ended his chances of making a quality defensive addition.
A make-do option of Ashley Young in the position with Luke Shaw as the backup is not ideal for a club to match the likes of Manchester City and the other European powerhouses. Kurzawa will bring a different dynamic to the United lineup while putting in a decent shift on defence.
Manchester City
The entire injury crisis in the left-back role has caused a bit of concern among the fans at Etihad but Pep Guardiola has found a backup in Fabian Delph and Danilo. However, Delph is primarily a holding midfielder and Danilo does not possess a dominant left-foot to drill in crosses on the run from the left flank. Even though Mendy is set to make a return sometime next month, no one can guarantee that he will be able to deliver on a regular basis.
Liverpool
Andrew Robertson has looked solid after Alberto Moreno went down to an injury earlier in the season. However, Jurgen Klopp does not really have a quality second option with the Spaniard struggling to find his feet on the defensive end.
