Liverpool’s attacking sensation Mohamed Salah has managed to break yet another record as he becomes the fastest Liverpool player in the history to reach the 20 goals milestone in the Premier League when he scored an amazing solo goal against Spurs.
The Egyptian joined the club from Roma for a fee of €42m and has quickly hit the ground running, scoring a whopping 28 goals in just 34 matches all competitions. Therefore, the question remains – is he really the signing of the season?
Well, the answer would be a resounding YES.
The former Chelsea starlet has completely turned the table at Liverpool, who were initially expected to undergo yet another mediocre campaign prior to the start of the season. Apart from acquiring killer statistics in the offensive department, the Egyptian international has also embraced Jurgen Klopp’s gegenpressing style of play with aplomb.
His sheer pace coupled with great tenacity is absolutely tailor-made for Jurgen Klopp’s tactical philosophy. He’s definitely one of the fastest players in the Premier League, an asset which was helped him thrive in the English top flight this season. In addition, Salah has significantly improved his goal-scoring abilities, which is clearly evident in his remarkable tally so far.
Furthermore, his offensive partnership with the likes of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Philipe Coutinho(before January), has been eye-catching, to say the least. Firmino’s clever movements and great hold-up play is an ideal catalyst for the pacy wingers on the flanks, in the shape of Salah and Mane. Salah, in particular, has thrived under the services of his teammates. Coutinho also deserves a mention for his creativity in the central areas of the pitch.
Mohamed Salah is currently trailing to Harry Kane by just one goal, in the Premier League’s top scorers crown. His goal against Tottenham Hotspur was truly eye-catching and it resembled what kind of player he really is. In addition, the Egyptian has also bagged seven assists in the Premier League so far, which is, by no means a bad tally.
While there have been quite a lot of great signings in the Premier League this season, none of the newcomers could match the impact that Salah has had with Liverpool this season. Therefore, he’s by far the Premier League’s best summer signing this season!
With the FIFA World Cup just around the corner, it will be interesting to see how he performs for the remainder of the season. But one thing is for sure, the 25-year-old will definitely be the one to watch out for in the coveted tournament this summer.
