Another promising talent has come into the limelight in Europe and again it is the two clubs of Manchester who are reportedly locking horns to secure his services. The player in question here is Barcelona youngster Pablo Moreno. Manchester City should be way ahead in the chase for the player’s signature because of the Pep Guardiola factor. He could well be on his way to England this summer.
The 15-year old talent has earned the nickname of the “killer” in Spain owing to his prowess in front of goal and Guardiola will want to add him for the team he is building for the future. Although it is unsure, where he would be headed if at all he leaves, the fact that Pep Guardiola is one of the favourite sons of Barcelona might prompt them to sell the player to City rather than to Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho with whom they have an unhealthy relationship.
He will fit into the team for the future perfectly as an exciting player with the likes of David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane and more. Moreover, Pep’s system of football will see the youngster develop into a smart tactical player. He is expected to be a long-term replacement in the future for the likes of Sergio Aguero in the squad who does not have the longest career ahead of them left. He will, however, have to wait patiently in the wings alongside the likes of Brahim Diaz and U-17 World Cup winner Phil Foden before he can break into the first team at City on a regular basis.
His game time will not be guaranteed in his first few spells especially City boasting of world class players in the final third. Hence his move to Manchester City will no doubt see him spending plenty of time on the bench, something he cannot afford to do at this point in his career. Moreover, in Barcelona, he will have the best youth academy in La Masia to guide him to the top-tier of football.
The final complication of the deal will be the fact that Guardiola’s men will have to fend off interest from fellow title challengers like Manchester United.
However, Barcelona will be at a disadvantage of stopping the player as professional deals cannot be offered in Spain before 17 unlike in England where it can be earned at the age of 16; a rule that saw Barcelona lose Cesc Fabregas and Gerard Pique to Arsenal and Manchester United respectively.
