David Moyes has now gone 15 games without a win at Anfield as his West Ham side were put to the sword by an in-form Liverpool, who move to the 2nd place in the points table, albeit only for a day, with a 4-1 victory at home on Sunday. Emre Can gave the hosts an early lead from a header as they went into halftime just 1-0 up.
But Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane all found the back of the net in the second half, even as Michail Antonio scored after spending just 70 seconds on the pitch, giving Liverpool three crucial points. Klopp’s men stay 2nd till Manchester United face Chelsea on Sunday and here are the player ratings for the Reds in this tie:
Liverpool Players Rated And Slated
Loris Karius (6):
Was almost beaten by Arnautovic in the first half but made a couple of decent saves and was unlucky not to keep a clean sheet.
Trent Alexandre-Arnold (9):
One of his best performances in a Liverpool shirt, where he constantly hassled the likes of Evra and Mario and put in some delightful crosses that troubled the West Ham backline.
Joel Matip (6):
Caught out of position on a couple of times but did well to keep the danger from West Ham attack to a minimum.
Virgil van Dijk (8):
Won every duel on the ground and in the air as he was hardly troubled all night, leaving West Ham too much to do in the final third.
Andrew Robertson (8):
A delightful performance from the Scot, whose industry gave the West Ham defenders some nightmares. Picked up the assist for Mane’s goal and created a number of chances, which kept the pressure on the visitors.
Emre Can (7):
Made a couple of mistakes, including one that led to Antonio’s goal but picked up a goal and the assist for Firmino’s goal as he controlled the game well and kept his side on top.
Alex Oxlade Chamberlain (8):
Unlucky not to score a goal but his energy in the middle of the park was crucial to Liverpool’s win. A superb run that set up Salah’s goal gave him an assist in the game.
James Milner (9):
A sublime performance from the veteran midfielder, who not only put in a shift in the midfield, winning the ball back quickly but also set up chances for his side, which should have seen Liverpool score atleast a couple more.
Mohamed Salah (8):
His usual self, constantly beating defenders with his pace. Came close to scoring on a number of occasions but got his goal when he was played clean through by Ox early in the second half. Also got the assist for Can’s goal from the corner.
Roberto Firmino (8):
Yet another exemplary performance from the Brazilian, whose quick feet gave him an open goal to score Liverpool’s 3rd. Was also involved in Mane’s goal and was a nightmare for West Ham to defend against.
Sadio Mane (8):
Missed a couple of easy goals but got one from Robertson’s cross, to cap off a confident display from the Senegalese.
Substitutes:
Adam Lallana (6):
Kept the ball rolling late in the game.
