Liverpool are preparing a move for Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas next summer. According to recent reports in the Spanish media, the Reds are planning a summer swoop for the Costa Rican goalkeeper as Jurgen Klopp looks to resolve his goalkeeping woes at Anfield. The Premier League giants have been in sensational form going forward but they have struggled defensively this season and part of it is down to the inconsistency of Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius. Both keepers have failed to impress so far and it looks like the German manager could now look to bolster his goalkeeping options at the club by bringing in an experienced keeper like Keylor Navas next summer.
The 31-year-old signed for Los Blancos in the summer of 2014 from Levante and has gone on to win the Champions League twice among other major honours at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. He has featured in 27 matches for the Galacticos this season and has conceded just 30 goals so far while keeping 7 clean sheets.
Navas looks like he will be an upgrade over Mignolet and Karius with the Reds eager to recruit a quality keeper capable of helping them challenge for the Premier League title next season.
The Reds of Merseyside are currently sitting in 3rd place in the Premier League table at the back of a comfortable 2-0 victory away at Southampton in their last league outing. The Anfield-based club find themselves just above Chelsea, who are in fourth place with a point separating the two teams at the moment. However, Jurgen Klopp’s team are a massive 18 points behind league leaders Manchester City. The addition of Navas would go a long way in helping them bridge the gap between themselves and the Manchester clubs in the coming years.
The Liverpool defence has shipped in plenty of goals during the course of this season, with most of them coming away from home. The duo of Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius has collectively conceded 31 goals in 27 league matches which will be a cause for concern for Kopites all over the world. The acquisition of Navas could address that issue and help them mount a realistic challenge for the top tier title in the next campaign.
His stint at Real Madrid has already proven himself at the top level which makes him an ideal candidate to take up the goalkeeping duties at Anfield. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of the Costa Rican international and whether he ends up making a move to the Premier League next summer.
