Leicester City could be plotting a move for Nice striker Alassane Pléa next summer. According to recent reports coming out of French media, the Foxes boss Claude Puel is keeping a close eye on the Ligue 1 forward and could make a move for him in the summer. It is believed that Puel is a huge admirer of his talents and has worked with him during his time in Nice when he signed the striker in the summer of 2014. However, there are no indication that the Foxes are lining up a bid for his signature.
Plea is highly versatile and primarily operates as a central striker but can also play on the left or the right flank. The French forward has found the back of the net 10 times and provided 5 assists in 33 appearances for Nice this term. The French club are currently competing in the Europa League and also are in a battle to finish as high as possible in the top half of Ligue 1.
The 24-year-old enjoyed a successful goal scoring year in 2017, scoring 14 goals in 32 matches, a tally that saw him being linked with a switch to West Ham United. There was also speculation stating that he was gathering interest from Southampton in the previous campaign when Puel was the manager of the Saints.
The Foxes are currently sitting in 8th place in the league standings with a tally of 35 points in 26 matches. They are too far away from the ‘Big Six’ of the Premier League but a top 7 finish is well within their grasps. The addition of someone of the calibre of Plea will undoubtedly bolster Puel’s attacking options at the West Midlands club. The potential partnership between Vardy and Plea will be a mouth-watering prospect for the Foxes fans and could go a long way in helping the club bridge the gap between themselves and the top 6 in the coming years.
The French striker has put in some sensational displays in Ligue 1 in the last few years and has scored goals regularly to prove his worth. Puel knows the player well and any potential move could turn out to be a shrewd piece of business as he might reach his true potential under his former manager Claude Puel at the King Power Stadium. The Frenchman will add more goals to the Foxes team if Leicester City are able to secure his services in the near future.
Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Plea and whether Leicester City are successful in their pursuit of the 24-year-old’s signature.
