Sandro Ramirez has told his parent club, Everton, that he does not wish to return to Everton at the end of the season. The player had a disastrous first six months in Everton and was eventually sent out on loan to La Liga side Sevilla to regain form.
The Spanish forward completed his switch to Everton this summer for a reported fee of around £5 million. He has since endured a tough time in the league. In his initial five appearances, two of which has come as substitutes, Sandro has been unable to find the back of the net even once. It now appears that he is ready to move away permanently after scoring only twice in 13 games.
As for Everton, the situation is worsening by the day. The club spent a fortune in the summer and was expected to fight for a spot in the top 6. A disastrous run of results left the club in the relegation zone as recently as two months back. They are still suffering down in the 10th position and the club will soon have to hold their players accountable for the miserable performances this season.
Sandro has played only two games since his move to Spain and in no way has made any impact yet. The player for his part, however, wants to stay in his country and continue to develop. Ramirez, 22, said: “I’ve been here two weeks and I want to continue next season at Sevilla. I’m really where I want to be.”
The player who came with a lot of hype now looks like a lost cause for Everton. Sam Allardyce however, has refused to rule out any exit and believes that it is too early to judge Sandro’s career at Everton. “There are more players from abroad that don’t work in their first season. They fail more than they succeed, that’s across the board and at every club”, he said.
“It’s season two that really counts. The new season everyone starts fresh and everyone has a new chance to impress.”
Although Allardyce’s words have some truth in basis, it would seem that fixing the relation that has broken down to this level would be tough if not a futile job. The player is clearly keen on staying in Spain and does not want to return to the cold weather of Everton.
Even for the Toffees, they have a big enough squad and enough attacking talent to not focus on a player who simply could not click in his short spell. Wasting their resources on a wantaway who has not proved his mettle at the club could prove counter-productive at a club which is already struggling to live up to its expectations.
