Everton’s 1-0 loss to Watford at the weekend will push them closer to the bottom half of the points table and manager Sam Allardyce will look to end this campaign on a high, as close to the top as possible. They are already planning for life next season and are looking at potential stars, who can improve their side for the future.
This has seen them linked with some exciting names and one name they are now favourites to sign is Ac Milan striker Andre Silva.
Also wanted by the likes of Arsenal and Wolves, the Portuguese attacker is yet to find the net in Serie A this season and has 16 appearances to his name. He does have six goals in seven UEL starts and his record of 11 goals in 18 games for the Portuguese national side shows that he is a genuine goal scorer.
However, his troubles in Italy might see him quit AC Milan just a year after joining them from FC Porto. According to reports from Italy, the player’s agent Jorge Mendes has opened talks with the Serie A outfit and wants the club to let his client leave to the Premier League, in search of a fresh start.
It is reported that Mendes will offer his client to English teams at a reasonable price but should Everton sign him up?
Having spent on Cenk Tosun in January after bringing Sandro Ramirez and Wayne Rooney into the side in the summer, Everton have struggled to field a consistent goal scorer and are yet to replace their talisman Romelu Lukaku, who left for Manchester United not so long ago.
They are still in search of a player who can replicate his skill in the English top flight and Silva is a decent option in this role. At just 22, he has already established himself as one of the most exciting attackers in Portugal and though the Italian league has not been too fruitful for him, he does have the potential to turn into one of the best in Europe.
A strong and confident striker, who has a keen eye for goal, the 22-year old loves to dominate the opposition box, is lethal in the air and on the ground around the box. He is deadly when given space and time on the ball and is also adept at hold up pay, allowing his team to settle down even under pressure.
He is tailor-made for the English game and could be a huge hit in the PL if Everton play to his strengths but he cost Milan around £33m and will be sold at a similar price. Do you think he is the right man at that price for the Toffees?
