Chelsea could use their Belgian forward Michy Batshuayi in pursuit of Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic. According to recent reports in the English media, Dortmund’s desire to sign Batshuayi on a permanent transfer could leave the door open for the Blues to swoop in for the services of the United States international Christian Pulisic. The Bundesliga outfit are preparing to make a move for Batshuayi who has impressed since joining from Chelsea on a loan deal on the transfer deadline day last month, scoring five goals in his first three games at the Westfalenstadion.
Antonio Conte’s side were reluctant to sell the Belgium striker in January but could be more inclined to shipping Batshuayi out in the summer if it opens the door for them to seal a move for Dortmund’s attacking winger, Christian Pulisic. The American teenager is considered as one of the most talented prospects in world football at the moment. He has already attracted the attention of Manchester United and Liverpool, who have identified his talents and versatility. The USA international has incredible pace and can operate as a winger or a playmaker, making him an ideal asset for any team.
Pulisic is under contract until the summer of 2020 and Dortmund are eager to keep hold of him but the 19-year-old has publicly stated his desire to test himself in the Premier League.
Chelsea have monitored his development over the past year and are eager to make a move for him ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup which kicks off in Russia later this year. The Blues are aware that Dortmund will demand a huge fee but the prospect of possessing a bargaining chip such as Batshuayi could tip the scales in their favour.
Pulisic is the youngest player to represent his nation in a World Cup qualifier and already has 20 international caps to his name. He has scored 9 goals for the USA national team and at 17, he got his name etched in the Bundesliga history books when he became the youngest foreign player to score in the top tier of German football.
The West London club are currently in fourth place in the Premier League standings with a tally of 53 points in 27 Premier League matches but are a staggering 19 points behind league leaders Manchester City. The addition of Pulisic could go a long way in helping them bridge the gap between themselves and the Manchester clubs in the coming years. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of the USA international and whether he ends up making a switch to the Premier League next summer.
