Chelsea, it seems, are already preparing for life without Eden Hazard next season as the Blues have reportedly identified two potential targets in the upcoming summer. The Belgian has been heavily linked with a move elsewhere with Real Madrid hugely interested.
According to reports, Chelsea might be willing to sacrifice Eden Hazard to Real Madrid for big money but the Blues also want to acquire the services of Marco Asensio in the process. The young Spaniard has failed to nail down a regular place in the Real Madrid starting lineup and has attracted interest from Stamford Bridge.
Asensio might turn out to be an ideal signing for Chelsea, who are still unsure about their manager’s fate next season with Antonio Conte reportedly being on the end of some players’ revolt in recent weeks.
The young Spaniard is one of Europe’s best attacking talents, having made his breakthrough last season. Very superior, when it comes to the technical side of the game, Asensio is someone who can thrive in the Premier League thanks to his dynamism and fluidity in the final third. He is quite an agile attacker who can make dangerous runs into the channels to unsettle the opposing defence.
Furthermore, Asensio also excels at passing and ball distribution. The 22-year-old acquires a highly impressive passing accuracy of 90%, which is superior to any other attacker of his age while Asensio is also deadly with his left football, having already scored a few screamers in his relatively young career.
However, having said that, Marco Asensio is not exactly a right fit for Antonio Conte’s tactical philosophy, which requires huge work-ethic. We have already seen a lot of players struggling to cope with the gruelling training sessions under the Italian mastermind and Asensio, considering his lack of physical prowess could be yet another victim of his tactical setup.
Therefore, Chelsea should definitely make a decision on the fate of their manager next season before making any big-name signings. Marco Asensio is someone who is ideally suited to the possession-based game and considering Roman Abramovic’s willingness to play the ‘fantasy football‘ from next season, Chelsea will hopefully appoint someone who can be tailor-made for Asensio’s style of play. Past that, the acquisition of the highly talented midfielder from Real Madrid will only be a huge gamble from Chelsea’s perspectives.
