Barcelona are interested in securing the services of Inter Milan winger Yann Karamoh. According to recent reports, the Catalans are set to clash heads with Chelsea in pursuit of the Serie A prospect. The 19-year-old Frenchman is considered as one of the brightest prospects in European football and has been dubbed as the next Kylian Mbappe.
The France Under-21 international is highly versatile and can operate in a number of different positions going forward. He can play as a forward up top or on either flank or even in the number 10 position which makes him an ideal asset for any of his potential suitors. Karamoh graduated from the Caen academy and has represented his country at every youth level from the under-16’s to the under -21’s. The Frenchman has impressed by putting in some dazzling displays at the San Siro since making a two-year loan move from Caen last summer.
Some sources are claiming that he will cost in the region of £25m and the Serie A side are obliged to sign him on a permanent basis at the end of the 2018-19 season. However, Barcelona are not willing to give up and are keen on sealing a move for the Abidjan born star. It is also believed that the youngster has told his friends that a move to the Premier League appeals to him with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur also previously been linked with the forward.
Barcelona are currently leading the La Liga with a tally of 65 points in 25 matches. They are seven points above second-placed Atletico Madrid with just 13 matches to go in this campaign. The Catalans have scored 68 goals in the league so far but most of the goal-scoring workload has been shared between Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi.
The addition of someone of the calibre of Karamoh will undoubtedly bolster Ernesto Valverde’s attacking options in the coming years. The 19-year-old has made 9 appearances for Inter Milan this season and has a Serie A goal to his name. However, the Catalans are also blessed with the talents of Ousmane Dembele so it’s hard to see a move for Karamoh materialise unless they decide to part ways with Dembele in the summer.
At 19, Karamoh has a bright future and can develop into a future star capable of lacing up for a top club like Barcelona but for now, he needs to gain experience and continue with his development. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of the Inter Milan winger and whether he ends up making a switch to the Nou Camp.
