Leeds United will make a short trip to South Yorkshire to take on Sheffield United on Saturday at Bramall Lane in what is set to be an entertaining Yorkshire derby in the Skybet Championship. This will be the first game in charge for the new Leeds United manager Paul Heckingbottom and he will be looking to secure a crucial victory which can help the Peacocks in their quest to secure a playoff spot at the end of the season. The West Yorkshire outfit has slumped to 10th place in the Skybet Championship standings after their recent winless run of six matches without a victory in the league. Heckingbottom’s side are in dire need of some favourable results to try and reignite their pursuit to finish in the top 6 at the end of the current campaign. It won’t be an easy contest for Leeds on Saturday as the Blades are flying high and are currently occupying the eight spot in the league table.
The recent history of the fixture doesn’t make a good reading for Leeds United fans as the Peacocks have lost their last two meetings with their Yorkshire rivals which includes a 2-1 defeat at Elland Road earlier in this campaign. Heckingbottom is expected to opt for a 4-4-2 formation and might hand Stuart Dallas and Vernon Anita a start in the Leeds defence on Saturday.
4-4-2 Leeds United Predicted Lineup To Face Sheffield United
Defence
Felix Wiedwald will once again start in goal for the Peacocks and is expected to be shielded by a back four of Matthew Pennington and Stuart Dallas in central defence while Vurnon Anita takes his place at right-back in place of the suspended Gaetano Berardi and Laurens De Bock starts on the left-hand side of the backline.
Paul Heckingbottom will be hoping that his defenders can keep a rare clean sheet versus the Blades on Saturday in what is set to be his first game in charge of the Peacocks.
Midfield
Adam Forshaw and Ronaldo Vieira will line up as the holding midfielders while Pablo Hernandez and Ergjan Alioski will play on the wings. The Leeds midfield will be responsible for creating and scoring goals on the day to try and put an end to their recent poor run in front of goal which has seen them score only five times in their last seven games in all competitions.
Attack
The duo of Kemar Roofe and Pierre-Michel Lasogga is expected to lead the lines for Leeds United up top. Lasogga has been in good form this season and will look to add to his goal tally of 7 goals in 19 matches in all competitions when he laces up to face the Blades on Saturday. It remains to be seen if he can get his name on the scoresheet against Chris Wilder’s side.
