Leeds United will play hosts to Cardiff City on Saturday at Elland Road looking to secure a crucial victory which can help them in their quest to secure a playoff spot at the end of the season. Thomas Christiansen’s side has slumped to 10th place in the Skybet Championship standings after their recent winless run of five matches without a victory in the league. The Peacocks are in dire need of some results to try and reignite their pursuit to finish in the top 6 at the end of the current campaign. It won’t be an easy contest for Leeds on Saturday as the Bluebirds are flying high and are currently occupying the fourth spot in the league table.
The recent history of the fixture doesn’t make a good reading for Leeds United fans as the Peacocks have lost their previous two meetings versus the Welsh outfit which includes a 3-1 defeat at the Cardiff City Stadium earlier in this campaign. Christiansen is expected to opt for a 4-4-2 formation and might hand Stuart Dallas a start in the Leeds defence on Saturday.
4-4-2 Leeds United Predicted Lineup To Face Cardiff City
Defence
Felix Wiedwald will once again start in goal for the Peacocks and is expected to be protected by a back four of Pontus Jannson and Stuart Dallas in central defence while Gaetano Berardi takes his place at right-back and Laurens De Bock starts on the left-hand side of the backline.
Thomas Christiansen will be hoping that his defenders can keep a clean sheet versus the Bluebirds on Saturday after keeping a shut-out away at Hull City in their last league outing in midweek.
Midfield
Adam Forshaw and Ronaldo Vieira will line up as the holding midfielders while Pablo Hernandez and Ergjan Alioski will play on the wings. The Leeds midfield will be responsible for creating and scoring goals on the day to try and put an end to their recent poor run in front of goal which has seen them score only four times in their last six games in all competitions.
Attack
The duo of Kemar Roofe and Pierre-Michel Lasogga is expected to lead the lines for Leeds United up top. Lasogga has been in good form and will look to add to his goal tally of 7 goals in 19 matches in all competitions when he laces up to face the Bluebirds on Saturday. It remains to be seen if he can get his name on the scoresheet against Neil Warnock’s side.
