Chelsea are trying to bring in Isco in the summer but are facing heavy resistance from Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane. The Frenchman was quoted, “Isco’s one of them. He a very good footballer. He’s proven that in the past and will do that again. I want Isco [in my team] and I want him to spend his whole life here. It’s a lie that I want Isco to be sold in the summer. Hopefully, we won’t hear any more of this.”
Zidane is in peril of losing his own job as the club’s managers and his wishes might have little input in Perez’s decision to find Isco a new home. Real Madrid’s struggles in the La Liga has raised the eyebrows of all the fans at Santiago Bernabeu and some of it has landed on the manager while some of it has landed on the players themselves.
Isco can almost be termed as the manager’s favourite judging by the bias he has enjoyed over the past couple of season. James Rodriguez had to find a different club to play for after the 25-year-old started ahead of him time and time again. His talents are undeniable – the silky touch to beat defenders with just his first touch, an ability to break opposition defences with a quick pass. The entire transfer speculation started after the Spaniard’s drop of form in recent times.
However, Chelsea will have to find Isco replacement if the transfer does end up falling through in the summer. Here a few players the Blues should consider.
Thomas Lemar
French sensation Thomas Lemar broke into the big stage of football after a fantastic last season at Monaco. The left-footed attacking midfielder, who can also play as a winger, scored 13 goals and created 14 more in 52 appearances last season. The French winger who was a star player in the free-flowing Monaco team last year created 106 chances alone for the Ligue 1 champions.
He is strongly linked with both Liverpool and Arsenal and it is not too late for Chelsea to join in on the race.
Christian Pulisic
Pulisic is already a first team regular in the USA national team. Blessed with blinding pace of the wings, the Pennsylvania-born attacker is a prolific talent and currently displaying promises of future stardom. Primarily a winger by trade, Pulisic does possess the technical ability and vision to take up a more creative role.
Richarlison
He has been a regular starter for Watford this season with 30 appearances and 5 goals under his belt already. At just 20, he has hit the ground running and is a hard worker who is improving leaps and bounds with each passing game.
