Celtic will play hosts to Dundee at Celtic Park on Wednesday night looking to secure maximum points in what could be a tricky battle for the Hoops. The Dee are currently fighting for their top-flight lives and will look to cause an upset on the night in what promises to be an entertaining game of football. The home side are in sensational form in the league and are unbeaten in their last five league matches, winning four of them. Rodgers will be hoping his side can continue their good run and wrap up the league title as soon as possible.
The recent history of the fixture makes a grim reading for the visitors as they have not tasted victory in any of their last 26 encounters with the Hoops. Rodgers is expected to opt for a 3-5-1-1 formation and will be without the services of Mikael Lustig after he was sent off in their match versus Aberdeen last weekend. Jack Hendry could be handed a start in place of him as Rodgers’ side looks to continue their good form in the league.
3-5-1-1 Celtic Predicted Lineup To Face Dundee
Defence
Dorus de Vries is expected to resume his duties in the Celtic goal after the Hoops first-choice goalkeeper Craig Gordon fell victim to a knee injury last month which will keep him out for the immediate future. He might be protected by a back three of Kristoffer Ajer, Jozo Šimunović, and Jack Hendry in central defence. Hendry might be handed a start in place of the suspended Mikael Lustig who was red carded in their clash against Aberdeen last weekend.
Brendan Rodgers’ men have only conceded 18 goals in 28 league matches and also kept a clean sheet in their last league outing. The Celtic manager will hope that his defenders can secure another shutout against the Dark Blues to consolidate their position at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
Midfield
The trio of Scott Brown, Olivier Ntcham, and Eboue Kouassi might once again be used as holding midfielders who will be responsible to shield their backline while also linking up play with the attackers. Kieran Tierney will start on the left flank while James Forrest operates on the right-hand side of the midfield.
Attack
Moussa Dembele is set to start up top and Callum McGregor might play behind him in the number 10 position. McGregor has been in sensational form of late and scored a goal in the first leg of their Europe League tie versus Zenit St. Petersburg.
Dembele will be desperate to get in on the goalscoring act following a mediocre first-half to his campaign. It is expected that one of those players might make the difference on the day as the Hoops hope to bag the three points on course to another Scottish Premiership title.
