Real Madrid are the favourites to win the race to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford next summer. According to the United Kingdom bookmakers, Los Blancos are leading the chase for the English striker’s signature in the summer. The 20-year-old United ace has struggled to find regular game time under manager Jose Mourinho this season. The England international hasn’t started any of the Red Devils’ last six matches and his future at Old Trafford is currently up in smokes following the arrival of Alexis Sanchez in the January transfer window.
Now the bookies believe that Rashford could end up quitting the Old Trafford club in favour of a switch to the Spanish capital or Barcelona, with Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea also on the hunt for the striker. The Manchester United academy product has scored 10 goals and made 8 assists in 37 appearances for Jose Mourinho’s side across all competitions this season.
BetStars representative Ian Marmion was recently quoted to have said: “For the last few months all the talk has been about Real Madrid’s pursuit of Harry Kane, but it looks like the Spanish giants could have turned their attention to another young English striker.
“Marcus Rashford has grown increasingly frustrated at Manchester United with his lack of game time this season and amidst growing rumours that the 20-year-old could be looking for a move away from Old Trafford.
“Real Madrid have emerged as the 6/1 favourites to make Rashford their next Galactico, closely followed by arch-rivals Barcelona at 8/1.
“Tottenham are currently the leading Premier League club in the market at 11/1, followed by London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal who are both priced at 12/1.
“Manchester City are unsurprisingly priced as 20/1 outsiders to complete a highly controversial move for Rashford, alongside European giants Juventus and Bayern Munich.
“The opportunity to play alongside the likes of Bale and Ronaldo and challenge for both domestic and European trophies could prove too good to resist for Rashford, so this is definitely a transfer story to keep an eye on.”
The Galacticos are currently lying in 4th place in the La Liga standings, a massive 17 points behind their rivals and league leaders Barcelona. Zinedine Zidane’s side are in dire need of reinforcements in the summer as they look to bridge the gap between themselves and Barca in the coming years. The addition of someone of the calibre of Rashford could undoubtedly bolster Zidane’s attacking options ahead of the new campaign. The club currently boasts Karim Benzema and Borja Mayoral as their first-choice strikers but the duo have struggled to consistently score goals for the reigning European champions this term.
The arrival of Rashford in the summer might address some of their attacking concerns going forward if they can convince the Red Devils to part ways with their prized asset. Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of the English striker with the 2018 FIFA World Cup looming on the horizon. It remains to be seen if he ends up making a move to Spain in search of regular first-team football later this year.
