Reports have emerged that Wolverhampton Wanderers are targeting Inter Milan forward, Andrea Pinamonti in the coming weeks. The 19-year-old has been a sensation for the San Siro side this season with 6 goals in 4 matches of the UEFA Youth League.
He has made 2 appearances for the senior team and is below the pecking order behind his role model, Mauro Icardi.
Pinamonti’s development has been nothing short of meteoric from the youth ranks of Internazionale and has been pegged a crucial figure in the club’s future. However, a youngster’s progression to an exquisite talent will only happen if he receives regular game time against top level talents.
The Cles-born forward can find an outlet in Wolves, who are preparing for a future in the Premier League. Nuno Santo’s men have broken away from the pack with a 12 point lead at the top of the EFL Championship and have just signed Rafael Mir on a four-year deal.
Their dominance in the second division of English football has been fuelled by a good investment strategy in obtaining top quality young talents.
Standing at 6 feet 1 inches tall Pinamonti is as strong as he is quick with his feet. The striker is well adept in holding up the ball to link up with his teammates and puts in a decent defensive shift. His ability to dribble past defenders along with a keen eye for goal sets him apart from other European talents and will be welcomed at the Molineux Stadium.
However, will Inter really part ways with the youngster so easily or is a loan-deal the furthest line they will draw?
Inter started off the season remarkably with their star forward, Icardi firing on all cylinders. It looked like they were finally well poised to stop Juventus’ title-winning streak along with Napoli.
However, they have failed to uphold their own standards and have endured a very tough December schedule. The Black and Blues registered two of their only league losses against Udinese and Sassuolo consecutively and are on a 5 game winless run.
A gap of 6 points have opened up between them and league leaders, Napoli and the team are in dire need of restrengthening to address their inconsistency issues.
Luciano Spalletti is seeking out quality talents he can add in the coming weeks and has already been linked with Tottenham winger, Erik Lamela. Pinamonti’s exit might just fetch him the resources to pursue necessary additions and dig themselves out of this rut they seem to be stuck in.
