Wolves have drawn their attention to Newcastle United winger, Yasin Ben El-Mhanni for a possible transfer in the coming weeks. The 22-year-old has not featured for the senior Magpies team at all this season and has been relegated to the U23 squad with just 5 appearances.
It looks like his promising career in English football has turned out to be fruitless so far and a transfer move is imminent. Rafael Benitez has stated that he will not sell any players unless a replacement comes in, but with the lack of resources to restructure the squad he might have to cave over the Moroccan.
El-Mhanni has always been a bright prospect ever since he started playing futsal on the streets. His dazzled his way to internet recognition through Youtube in his younger days and was flown out to Spain to feature in commercials. The Chelsea-born midfielder has rubbed shoulders with Neymar and can be credited with teaching the Brazilian a skill or two.
Blessed with a vast array of skills, Newcastle United had to fend off interests from a vast array of clubs to land the Moroccan’s signature in the summer of 2016. At the time, it looked the youngster would lead the attacking lineup in the Championship and guide the club back to top-tier English football. But fans at St. James Park might have to concede that the youngster might just be a trick pony with not much to offer in the English game.
El-Mhanni has learned to play in the streets and is brilliant in tight spaces but still needs to develop into the game. He is due to meet with the club’s board to discuss bullying allegations for the U23 coach, Peter Beardsley. The relationship between the club and the player might not be in the best of terms and this provides the Championship league leaders to provide him with an escape.
The Wanderers are just cruising through their season in the second division and have already broken away from the pack with a 10-point lead. They are preparing for a future in the Premier League and are implementing measures to take on the challenge head-on.
They have already signed Rafael Mir from Valencia and a few more attacking additions are being considered by Nuno Espirito Santo. Maybe he can get the best out of El-Mhanni and shape him out to be the player he had promised to be.
