Josh Onomah’s future with Aston Villa hangs in the balance with Mauricio Pochettino considering a recall for the English attacker.
The 20-year-old is currently loaned out to Aston Villa from parent club Tottenham Hotspur, but his recent performances haven’t really impressed the Villans, with fans constantly wanting him to be replaced by someone else.
Spurs are able to recall the English youngster next month but head coach Pochettino has admitted that he is yet to make a decision on his future with the club.
However, considering the fact that the club is currently lacking in terms of attacking options in the offensive department, the Lilywhites could really fancy recalling the 20-year-old, which will definitely boost their attacking options up front.
It’s clear that Josh Onomah has struggled to integrate himself into the playing scheme used by Aston Villa. The Championship outfit often likes to play the English way by deploying a big striker up front and loading tonnes of crosses from the flanks.
Earlier this month, in their recent game against Millwall, the fans have voiced their opinion regarding Josh Onomah to be replaced by the much direct Jack Grealish. Therefore, it’s clearly evident that the 20-year-old needs to depart from the Villa Park as soon as possible.
Recalling the youngster not only help boost the attacking options of Tottenham Hotspur but it could also prove beneficiary to the highly talented Onomah, who can definitely give Moussa Sissoko a run for his money.
The Frenchman has looked significantly better this season compared to last campaign but still lacks the quality to shine in a top team like Spurs. With players like Dele Alli and Harry Kane, constantly being on the end of major transfer speculation, Onomah’s presence in the first-team could hand Mauricio Pochettino a backup solution.
Additionally, the club can also opt to loan out Josh Onomah to some other clubs in the January transfer window. There are a lot of Premier League clubs who will be desperate to bring in some attacking reinforcements in the winter transfer window.
A move to Crystal Palace or West Brom, for example, could help Onomah gather experience of playing in the English top flight whilst helping these bottom placed clubs to steer clear of the relegation zone. It will be interesting to see how the Lilywhites deal with his situation in the upcoming January transfer window.
