According to Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur are no longer interested in signing Ligue 1 winger, Malcom and are allocating their resources towards other targets. This is an indirect go-ahead for rivals, Arsenal who have been on the Brazilian’s trail for some time now.
The entire Alexis Sanchez speculation is still an ongoing saga now that he has been linked with the other Manchester side. Jose Mourinho plans to snap both him and Mesut Ozil up before the end of the month with an exchange deal for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Now that the Armenian has completely fallen out of favour with Mourinho, the transaction is not the unlikeliest possibility. Obviously, Sanchez has no interest in playing in an Arsenal jersey anymore judging by his performances this season. A lacklustre presence from the left and a shadow of his usual energetic self.
His exit is imminent and this should not come as a surprise to any Arsenal fan. However, Wenger will need to bring in an immediate replacement if he has any plans of scavenging any sort of silverware along with a top-four finish this season.
The situation surrounding Malcom should give the North London side a boost especially now that either United or Manchester City might cool off too if they get Sanchez.
Malcom’s talents are undeniable by all European scouts and quite deservedly has drawn the eyes of plenty of elite sides. A product of the Corinthians academy, the 20-year-old has appeared in 54 games for the club netting the ball 7 times and furthering 5 assists. He arrived at Matmut Atlantique on 31 January 2016 for an undisclosed transfer fee.
Ever since his arrival Malcolm has taken the Ligue 1 by storm playing for FC Girondins de Bordeaux and scoring 7 goals in 18 games while also adding 4 assists this season.
Standing at just 5 feet 8 inches, the 20-year-old has a phenomenal ability to dance his way past defenders from the wide areas and break down the opposition half whenever he gets the ball.
He has so far appeared 2 times in the Brazilian U23 side and has a long way to go before he can partner up with Neymar and Philippe Coutinho in the senior national team.
A move to the Premier League can seriously accelerate that process with regular appearances under Arsene Wenger. Sanchez’s exit will ensure a first-team spot and the offensive responsibilities of scoring and formulating attacks. The fast-paced English game is a challenge in itself, but one Malcom should be eager to take on if he wants to play against the best and triumph.
