According to reports, Andre Ayew could be on his way back to Swansea City. After a fairytale debut with Swansea City where his team beat Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, Clement continued to build on his good work earning 26 points from 18 games and leading the Swans to the safety season. However, this season things have gone downhill for them and Swansea are currently staggering at rock bottom 22nd place with just 16 points after twenty-two game weeks.
In their last sixteen English Premier League matches, Swansea City has lost twelve of them. The results have been horrendous and the nature of defeats even more depressing. It is tough to see the Swans surviving this season in this form, a situation that led to Clement’s demise as manager at the Welsh club.
The stat of so many defeats has left the fans frustrated and the players must shoulder some responsibility. This is Swansea’s seventh straight season in the top flight since their promotion in 2011. The Swans must look to themselves as their top-flight run clearly proves they have the quality in their squad to cut it in the league. However, with the current crop failing to prove useful, Clement had to pay the final price.
Swansea City is increasingly looking like a team that seems set on the drop. The players are looking demotivated and are now facing an uncertain period under new manager Carlos Carvalhal. Swansea has been terrible going forward and the strikers have returned with a paltry total of 13 goals in 22 games.
It is now being reported that West Ham United are looking to table a bid for Swansea defender Alfie Mawson. The highly-rated defender is valued at 40 million pounds by the Welsh club and David Moyes is ready to offer 25 million pounds and Andre Ayew as part of the deal. The transfer, should it go through, will see Ayew return to his former club.
The Ghanian who earned his name at Swansea City after scoring 12 goals and setting up 5 assists in 35 games was scooped up by West Ham in 2016. However, his time in London has been slightly more difficult given the plethora of attacking options at the London stadium. It is now being reported that Moyes is ready to sacrifice on Ayew to bring in a defender. As for Swansea City, the club will be desperate to add another striker to the team to help their bid to stay afloat this season.
Apart from Tammy Abraham, none of the players have been in a scoring form and Ayew might be the solution Swansea need to survive this season. However, whether Ayew will agree to a switch to a club who are in serious contention for relegation remains to be seen.
