Swansea City are ready to make a move for Liverpool reject Lazar Markovic. It is believed that the Swans are preparing a £15 million bid for the player with his agent flying in to sign off on the deal. Markovic came to Liverpool prior to the arrival of Klopp as a £20 million signing and reports are claiming that Liverpool are keen to recoup most of the fee if a permanent transfer were to go through.
The Serbian’s spell at Anfield has failed spectacularly and he has only made 34 appearances for the club in almost four years. The winger who can also play as a forward last played for the first team back in May 2015. The 23-year old does not have the game to adjust to Klopp’s style of play and is now reportedly on his way out of the club. Markovic’s departure would mark the end of a really bad spell for the player in England that saw him go away on loan to Sporting Lisbon and Hull City.
Ever since his early days at Borussia Dortmund, Klopp has been known for his heavy metal style of football. A certain attacking finesse complimented by an aggressive-minded team that can go on scoring goals and passing the ball around dangerously with a positive flair all day long.
At Liverpool, he has brought in players who suit his style of play and carefully moulded the ones already in the team to form an attacking team, which can tenaciously break down rigid defences. His game is pleasing to the eye and has earned him a certain name as the manager who will look to attack you regardless of the scoreline.
The focus has always been kept on attack and the players from midfield to forward line excel on the ball. Dispatching teams on their good days is a task they can do in their sleep. As the bar of excellence raises itself in Liverpool’s attack, the price has been paid by players who have failed to adjust to Klopp’s style of football, the latest victim being Markovic.
His move to Swansea, should it go through, would see him add some much-needed firepower to the Welsh outfit. The Swans were poor for the better part of the season but have shown signs of resurgence after winning back to back matches against Liverpool and Arsenal. Swansea are still, however, firmly placed in the relegation battle and have scored only 19 goals in their 25 games.
They are in desperate need of an attacker who can add goals to the club and Markovic could just be the man for them. Moreover, even for the player, it would be beneficial as it would help the Serbian recover some much-needed form and fight for a place in the national team before the FIFAWorld Cup 2018.
