Rangers are looking for a fee in the region of £10m if they are to be convinced to sell forward Alfredo Morelos in the near future. According to recent reports, the Scottish Premiership club has put a £10m price tag on the Colombian striker who joined them last summer on a three-year deal from HJK Helsinki for a reported fee of £1m. He has put in some eye-catching displays this season and has quickly become one of the key members of the Light Blues squad as he has scored 12 goals in 25 matches this season.
The 21-year-old is currently top of the goalscoring charts with 10 league goals to his name and is ahead of the likes of Moussa Dembele, Leigh Griffiths and Scott Sinclair in the race for the golden boot in the top tier of Scottish football. It is believed that a whole host of Championship clubs are keeping tabs on the player but the Ibrox based outfit would not consider any offer that does not match their valuation of their prized asset.
Rangers boss Graeme Murty has already made four new additions in the January transfer window and is looking to bring in a few new faces before the end of the month to try and bolster his options going into the second half of the season.
Murty has confirmed on Friday that he intends to recruit a few more players while also letting some of his fringe players leave this month. It is being reported the Glaswegian club are in negotiations with Hamilton over the possible transfer of Greg Docherty. The club has also made an approach for Kilmarnock winger Jordan Jones but they are still far from meeting Steve Clarke’s valuation of the player. However, Rangers may need to sell before they can move in for new players.
The Scottish giants could use the money generated from the potential sale of Morelos to try and strengthen other areas of their squad. Although, if the striker does end up leaving the Ibrox, his goalscoring will definitely be a big miss in their quest to bridge the gap between themselves and rivals Celtic who are currently leading the Scottish Premiership by 8 points.
The Colombian forward has scored 12 goals and made 2 assists in 25 matches for Rangers across all competitions this season. Murty could look to retain him going into the future as he has the capability to secure a second-place finish for Rangers at the end of this campaign. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of the 21-year-old starlet and if the Glaswegian side decides to part ways with him this month.
