Newcastle United are leading the chase to sign Everton outcast Sandro Ramirez before the transfer window comes to a close at the end of this month. According to latest odds released by the United Kingdom bookmakers, the Magpies are the frontrunners for his signature this month. If the Spaniard is set to depart Goodison Park in January, it seems that the UK bookmakers can only see one possible destination for the former La Liga forward. Some bookies have priced the Tyneside club as 2/1 favourites to sign the 22-year-old, with Brighton & Hove Albion, Swansea City and West Bromwich Albion all chasing them and are priced at 8/1.
It is believed that the Spanish youngster’s wages could turn out to be a major stumbling block for some La Liga sides who just do not have the resources to match his six-figure weekly salary. Some sources are claiming that the Toffees are also holding out for a loan fee on top of a full wage payment which could make the striker remain on Merseyside for the remainder of the season.
The Magpies are currently in the market for a new striker but has failed in their attempts to sign Daniel Sturridge recently. Ramirez could be the man to solve some of their goalscoring problems at Tyneside this season.
Newcastle United are currently occupying 15th place in the Premier League standings with a tally of 23 points after Gameweek 24. The Tyneside club are just a point above the relegation zone and are in real danger of suffering the agony of being relegated to the English Championship at the end of the current campaign.
They need to start picking up results and turn their fortunes for the better in the coming weeks to avoid being dragged into a relegation dogfight going into the second half of the season. The addition of Ramirez will undoubtedly bolster Benitez’s attacking options at St. James Park and can go a long way in helping them address some of their recent struggles in front of goal.
Ramirez has made 15 appearances for the Toffees this season and has found the back of the net once and provided one assist across all competitions. His record in England is far from convincing but his record in Spanish football is undoubtedly impressive with the forward scoring 16 goals and making 6 assists in 47 matches during his time at Malaga. It remains to be seen if Newcastle United go in for the Spaniard before the end of this ongoing transfer period.
