As per one of the latest reports by Daily Star, Middlesbrough are desirous to bring New York City’s blossoming youngster, Jack Harrison, to the Riverside Stadium before the transfer window shuts down. However, the race to make Harris sign on the dotted line is not going to be easy for the Smoggies as the report states that Stoke City and Newcastle United have also put him on their radar.
The Major League Soccer outfit are perceived to be willing to sell him and have placed a price tag of £6million on his collar. Middlesbrough are currently placed at the 8th spot in the Championship table with 44 points to their name after 28 games. Promotion to the Premier League is still achievable as they are merely 4 points behind 6th placed Sheffield United. There is a lot to be done though.
Tony Pulis needs to make the most of the remaining days of the January transfer market and his apparent inclination towards signing Harrison makes great sense. The England Under-21 played 36 games for New York City last season, scoring 10 goals and notching 3 assists and no wonder why the football fraternity have started to talk about him.
His versatility is arguably what must have appealed Pulis, for he can play anywhere in the offensive sector, be it as an attacker, as a winger or as a central attacking midfielder. Harrison is an excellent dribbler of the ball and is quite comfortable in the air. Despite his young age, he has shown immense maturity and calmness as well.
Harrison runs with a blistering pace and pops up in the right areas to make the most of the chances he receives. The starlet is smart and has the element of trickery involved in his game. He is an absolute work-horse and runs tirelessly throughout the pitch to shift the momentum in favour of his employers. Besides, he is found, more often than not, to look for spaces and he stretches the defence of the opposition with relative ease.
It has to be noted that he gets overambitious at times and further, he must learn to pass the ball in a better manner. Nonetheless, he is still young and owing to the potential he has, there appears to be immense scope up ahead in his career waiting for him. However, before signing him, Boro must take into consideration that he is still an unpolished article and lacks the experience of English football.
