Liverpool are reviewing their winger Ryan Kent’s loan spell at Freiburg and are considering their options to recall the youngster in this transfer window after a slow start his life in the Bundesliga. Some sources are claiming that the Reds might cut his time short in Germany and may look to loan him again to a Championship club in search of more first-team football. Kent went out on a season-long loan deal to the Bundesliga club on transfer deadline day back in August last year.
The 24-year-old winger experienced a successful pre-season at Liverpool and caught the eye with his dazzling performances which made Liverpool fans hope that he would be able to break into Jurgen Klopp’s first-team. However, the German manager decided to make him go out on a temporary basis in search of regular football but he has only featured sporadically for Freiburg this season, making only 6 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit since his switch to Germany. Kent’s last match for the club was in a victory over Mainz on November 25.
The lack of first-team football has made Liverpool concerned and the Merseyside club might recall him in January with a whole host of Championship clubs interested in securing his signature.
Let’s take a look at three potential Championship clubs who can make full use of Ryan Kent’s services.
Leeds United
The Peacocks are well in contention of a playoff spot and are currently occupying 6th place in the Championship standings. They can definitely make use of Kent’s talents in their quest to consolidate their position in the league table. Manager Thomas Christiansen knows that he needs to turn some results in their favour after suffering successive losses in the league and his side’s failure to score a single goal during that time. So a potential move for the Liverpool winger can be a game-changer in the race for the playoff spots this season.
Aston Villa
The Villans of West Midlands are currently sitting in 5th place in the Championship table and are doing well in their hunt for a playoff spot which might eventually lead to promotion into the Premier League. Villa boss Steve Bruce may need another regular goal-scorer in his first-team with winger Albert Adomah the only consistent performer for the West Midlands club this season. Kent may turn out to be a shrewd January addition if they are able to convince Liverpool that a move to Villa will be beneficial for all parties.
Sheffield United
The Blades are outsiders to secure a spot in the playoffs and find themselves in 7th place in the Championship standings. They have recently dropped crucial points against Bolton Wanderers and Derby County which has given Aston Villa and Leeds United an edge on the hunt for the playoff positions. Kent may be a perfect answer to their attacking worries which might help them secure a promotion back to the top tier of English football.
