AC Milan midfielder Suso has ruled out a move out of the Italian club this month amid speculation linking him with a return to Liverpool. The Reds were looking to recruit the Spaniard after Phillipe Coutinho departed the club earlier this month on a £142million deal to Barcelona. However, Suso is not willing to leave AC Milan in the immediate future and is focussing on getting on with his football in the Serie A. He addressed rumours linking him with a move abroad through a post on his Instagram account which stated,
“I recently signed an important [contract] renewal,”
“I think about playing and my agent thinks about the [transfer] market.
“I have read everything: rumours, desires, alleged negotiations and inaccuracies. So I will try to clarify.
“First: I do not care about the release clause, only on the pitch counts and in these five months we have to be protagonists.
“Second: we need respect for a historic and special club like Milan, which has focused on me and invested a lot.
“Third: in any case my will counts, and only my will. And what I want now is to just to stay here. Everything else is just chatter.”
The Spanish midfielder has scored 7 goals and made 9 assists in 27 appearances for AC Milan in all competitions this season.
With Suso crossed out of Jurgen Klopp’s list of transfer targets this month, let’s take a look at three potential options for the Reds to consider.
Florian Thauvin
The 24-year-old Olympique Marseille winger has been sensational with his performances in Ligue 1 this season. The French attacker is highly versatile and can operate in a number of attacking positions which will suit Jurgen Klopp’s playing style at Merseyside. He has scored 10 goals and made 12 assists in 29 appearances for the Ligue 1 club in all competitions this season.
Marcel Sabitzer
The Austrian winger has lit up the Bundesliga with some dazzling displays in this campaign. He has made a total of 19 appearances for RB Leipzig so far and has found the back of the net 4 times while providing 7 assists across all competitions this season. The 23-year-old Austrian has shown that he has a knack for scoring as well as creating goals and could turn out to be an ideal asset under Jurgen Klopp if the Merseyside club opts for his services in the near future.
Iñaki Williams
The 23-year-old Athletic Bilbao winger has put in a great shift for his club this season and has shown signs of his brilliance in the form of some exceptional performances in the La Liga. The Spaniard has scored 6 goals and made 5 assists in 29 matches for Bilbao this term. At 23, he still has his peak years ahead of him which Liverpool could look to utilise if they can recruit him this month.
