Paris Saint-Germain has put some Premier League clubs on red alert by revealing that they are ready to sanction the permanent transfer of their striker Goncalo Guedes in the ongoing winter transfer window. The French club beat Manchester United and Arsenal in the race to sign the gifted forward from Benfica at this time last year. However, the 21-year-old has failed to break into the PSG first-team which has forced them to send the youngster to Valencia on a season-long loan deal in the summer.
The Portuguese forward has the caught the eye with his performances for Valencia this season. He has made 16 appearances for the La Liga club in all competitions, scoring 3 goals and making 5 assists so far. His recent form has made Valencia enquire about his availability on a permanent deal. However, with both Arsenal and Manchester United set to renew their interest on the youngster, they are set to have some strong competition in the race for his signature, following the Parisian club’s recent desire to sell the attacker in January.
With PSG open to selling Guedes in this transfer window, let’s take a look at three potential Premier League clubs who can benefit from his services going into the second half of the season.
Arsenal
The Gunners are desperate to make new additions in this winter transfer window with the impending departure of two of their star players which include Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil. Arsene Wenger could use someone of the potential of Guedes in his squad but might face stiff competition from fellow Premier League rivals.
The North London club are famous for giving young players a chance with the emergence of Jack Wilshere, Francis Coquelin, Alex Iwobi, Aaron Ramsey and many others in the Gunners’ first-team. So a move to the Emirates might fancy both parties in the near future.
Manchester United
The Red Devils have recently seen both their first-team forwards suffer injuries and are in need of a young striker who can provide cover to Romelu Lukaku and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Guedes can be the perfect candidate for that role but may struggle to find regular game time under manager Jose Mourinho. However, the Portuguese forward has the potential to be world class so a move for him in January could provide dividends for the Manchester outfit in their quest to bridge the gap to Manchester City.
Newcastle United
The Magpies are in dire need of a goal-scorer in this ongoing transfer window and may be able to generate a big money move with an impending takeover of the club looming on the horizon. Rafael Benitez is a big name manager who can still pull some strings to attract top talent and Guedes would benefit from a move to Tyneside as he would be able to play first-team football regularly in Newcastle United’s fight to save themselves from relegation this term.
