Leeds United are eyeing up a swoop for out of favour Liverpool goalkeeper, Adam Bogdan who has not featured for the side at all this season. The 30-year-old is way below the pecking order behind the likes of Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet and a transfer is a logical step at such a juncture of the Hungarian’s career.
The Whites might be in the market for a goalkeeper with Sunderland making an inquiry over Andy Lonergan and Bogdan can be one of their prime candidates. The Hungarian arrived at Anfield in the summer of 2015 after impressing for Bolton Wanderers where he ironically was replaced as the first choice keeper by Lonergan only.
Bogdan went on to make 120 club appearances for the Trotters and was brought into Liverpool by Brendan Rodgers on a free transfer. However, his career failed to progress beyond the fences of a few Cup games in top-flight English football and maybe a return to the Championship is in his best interests. A motivated professional will never enjoy spending time on the sidelines and it looks like Bogdan has surfaced his patience with the Reds now that they are planning on making further additions to the keeper position.
Leeds United, on the other hand, have fallen back to their usual ways even after such a promising start to the season. They are struggling in the Championship having lost 3 of their last 4 games and making a steep drop to the 10th spot. The side’s disappointing 3-4 loss to Millwall at home last weekend left the fans at Elland Road shell-shocked.
The Whites allowed the visitors to slot in two late goals to snatch away the crucial three points. Liam Cooper’s red card suspension had a part in the defeat and even after being so impressive in the backline, the 26-year-old’s disciplinary issues are costing the side dearly.
What started out to be one of the best chances of pushing for a promotion has turned into a dark and disappointing campaign for Thomas Christiansen who is struggling with a lack of attacking threat from the side. However, Felix Wiedwald has been quite successful since his arrival from Wolfsburg in the summer but might not be completely sold on the prospects of his future with Leeds.
He was quoted, ”I would like to have stayed and would have liked to continue playing for a few more years, but now I’m looking forward to it. I had to let everything sink in first. After all, my family also wanted us to stay in Bremen.”
