Manchester United are ready to make an offer for Arsenal’s contract rebel and midfield star Mesut Ozil. Some sources in the English press has claimed that the Red Devils’ manager has been told that he make an offer up to £35 million in order to land the 29-year-old German international in January. Ozil just has six months remaining on his current contract with the Gunners and is set to leave on a free transfer at the end of the season. It is believed that United boss Mourinho would prefer to sign the midfielder for free next summer but may face competition from the likes of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain if they decide to play the waiting game. A report in the English press has also suggested that Ozil is asking for an offer in the region of £300,000 a week and the Manchester club are willing to open negotiations with the midfielder.
Arsene Wenger denied claims last month linking Ozil with a move to United and said that the German midfielder will stay with the Gunners for the remainder of the season. However, the Red Devils could test his resolve with an offer as the Gunners risk losing their prized asset for free once the season is over.
Let’s take a look at how the Red Devils will line up if they are able to acquire Mesut Ozil’s signature in the near future.
Defence
David De Gea will take his place in goal for the Red Devils and will be protected by Phil Jones and Chris Smalling in central defence while Ashley Young will start at left-back and Antonio Valencia will take his place on the right.
This back four is probably the strongest that Jose Mourinho currently possesses at the club.
Midfield
The duo of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic will be the holding midfielders for Manchester United at the centre of the park. The trio of Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, and Mesut Ozil will play ahead of them as part of the United attack.
Both Lingard and Mata has been in fine form for the Manchester club of late and should make it to the starting eleven if they are fit and available.
Attack
Romelu Lukaku will lead the lines for the Red Devils up top and will be expected to score more goals with a creative genius like Mesut Ozil playing behind him. The Belgian has struggled to find the back of the net in recent matches but is currently the club’s only fit forward.
