Mauro Icardi moved to Inter Milan back in the summer of 2013 from fellow Serie A side Sampdoria and has since gone on to become a star player at San Siro. He has a contract with the Italian giants that run till 2021 and any party who might be interested in the Inter ace will have to fork out a fortune for the Argentine.
Icardi has gone on to make almost 170 appearances for the club and has scored 96 goals in the process, adding a healthy 23 assists as well in the process. He is a mainstay at the club and being given the captain’s armband, it is clear Inter expect him to stay at the club for the long run.
His heroics at the first Milan derby where he scored a hat-trick to sink Inter’s arch-rivals, has endeared him to the fans even more and it will cost way more than a mere transfer value of the player to take away Icardi. Latest reports are now confirming that Icardi has penned a new mega-contract to keep him at the club till 2021. This news will not be greeted with joy at the Spanish Capital by Real Madrid.
Real Madrid are now the defending La Liga Champions, current and two time defending UEFA Champions league and are on the verge of a Club World Cup win. Despite the club reaching such great heights, everything is not quite well at the Bernabeu. They have failed to turn up this season with their forwards out injured or misfiring.
It is common news that Real Madrid are in the hunt for a new striker. Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly been unhappy with the forwards at disposal this season at the capital city and wants new signings. Ronaldo, who turned 32 this year is slowly entering the final phase of his career and Real Madrid will need to scout for possible replacements for the iconic Portuguese forward.
Real Madrid let go of Alvaro Morata in the summer. The Galacticos now have Karim Benzema, who is on the wrong side of 30, an ageing Cristiano Ronaldo and young Borja Mayoral as the only options to play up front.
This has left Zidane looking for new players up front. In their midfield they have top quality players like Marco Asensio, Isco, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Casemiro and Mateo Kovacic who can play through the centre or as attacking inverted wingers. Now Icardi going out of the equation, Zidane will have to elaborate his search once again in the transfer market in order to bag the right player to lead the line for the Galacticos.
