West Ham United has gotten off to a shaky start this season and the fans know that despite a change in manager, it is unlikely that things will change fast. Bilic getting the axe does not automatically solve the problems and in all fairness to Moyes, he needs more time. Signing in new players may act as a catalyst, however, to help the club turn around their fortune. In his quest to help his team improve, it is being reported that the West Ham United board are ready to help their new manager bring in reinforcements that will help Moyes improve the team.
The Hammers have displayed good courage in December and the New Year started off on a good note for them as they beat West Bromwich Albion 2-1 and drew 1-1 against Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur with the 0-0 draw in the FA Cup the only frustrating result this year so far.
The gloomy atmosphere around the new London stadium is a little less tentative now as Moyes attempts to find a new formula to bring his side back to a fighting place in the league. With their transfer target Andre Schurrle being linked with a move to Inter Milan, here is a look at three possible players for West Ham United to target.
Nicolas Gaitan
Gaitan, who made the move to Atletico last summer is reportedly frustrated at his lack of game time at the Spanish capital and is ready to swap teams in favour of more time on the pitch. In his one and a half year at the club, he has been unable to break into the first team let alone cement his spot.
Given the fact that another attacker in the form of Diego Costa has returned to action this January for Atletico Madrid, the situation for Gaitan might become even direr leaving West Ham with a window of opportunity to snap up the player.
Theo Walcott
The 17-year old teenage sensation who made his debut for Arsenal in 2006 was destined for great things. 11 years down the line and Theo Walcott is just another bit-part Arsenal player. A career that once promised so much has been blighted by injuries, inconsistent performances and a lack of winning mentality.
If Walcott still does hold serious ambition to play for England in next year’s World Cup in Russia, he will need regular game time which is unlikely to come at Arsenal. This leaves the former England star with a hard choice to make. He must decide to seek his fortunes elsewhere if he is to feature regularly for a team once again making West Ham a good opportunity for all parties involved.
David Neres
The highly rated 20-year old player from South America has brilliantly adapted to Dutch football. Neres is incredibly light on his feet and has good enough ball control to cause any defence problems on his night.
The winger has been in blazing form this season and has already scored 9 goals and recorded 12 assists in 22 games and West Ham could look to him as a player for many years if the club is serious about adding quality to their side.
