Everton are keen to bring in TSG Hoffenheim attacking midfielder Kerem Demirbay to Merseyside. According to recent reports, the Toffees are ready to go head to head with Arsenal in pursuit of the German international. It is believed that the 24-year-old is keen on making a move to the Premier League with both the Gunners and the Blues of Merseyside lining up offers to secure his services. Some sources have recently claimed that Arsene Wenger’s side are preparing themselves to make a bid for the Bundesliga midfielder before the January transfer window closes later this month.
Demirbay has impressed with some eye-catching displays for TSG Hoffenheim this season and has featured in 22 matches for the German club which has seen him score two goals and make 5 assists for his teammates so far. His performances in the Bundesliga has caught the attention of some Premier League clubs with Everton and Arsenal currently interested to recruit him this month.
The German international made a move from Hamburger CV to TSG Hoffenheim in the summer of 2016 for a fee believed to be in the region of €2m. He has recently put pen to paper on a new two-year contract extension with the Bundesliga outfit which will see him stay at the club until the summer of 2021.
Demirbay has represented both Turkey and Germany at the youth levels and has also earned two international caps for the German national team with one international goal to his name. He can definitely be an asset to Everton in their quest to secure a top 7 finish in this Premier League campaign. The Toffees has had a turn of fortunes of late after the arrival of Sam Allardyce in Merseyside but are winless in their last four league matches over the busy festive period.
Big Sam has identified that his squad is in dire need of some reinforcements and is eyeing a few quality additions in the January transfer window which is set to close at the end of this month. Everton are looking to recruit a handful of quality attacking talent to add to their impotent frontline and has set their sights on Demirbay to rescue their season. The Hoffenheim star has a knack for scoring and creating goals from midfield as evidenced by his record at Hoffenheim which has seen him feature in 51 matches for the club where he has scored 8 goals and provided 15 assists.
It remains to be seen whether the Toffees are successful in their attempts to fend off strong competition from Arsenal in pursuit of the 24-year-old German international.
