Everton are among a number of Premier League clubs looking to secure the services of Hull City youngster Jarrod Bowen. According to recent reports in the English media, the Tigers forward has been gathering interest from a whole host of Premier League clubs which include the Toffees. The 21-year-old has lit up the Championship in his first full season for Hull City in the second tier of English football which has not gone unnoticed as Premier League sides are now queuing up to land his signature.
Scouts from the Merseyside club were present on Saturday to catch him in action as he scored once and assisted once to knock Nottingham Forest out of the FA Cup in the fourth round of the competition. Some sources in England have claimed that Sam Allardyce’s team will be joined by Newcastle United, Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion in the race for the youngster’s signature.
The 21-year-old is highly versatile and has primarily been deployed as a right winger in his first season for Hull City. However, he can also play on the left flank or up top as a striker. Bowen started his career off at Hereford United but has made a name for himself with some dazzling displays for the Tigers this season. His manager Nigel Adkins is reluctant to let him leave during this January transfer window, especially after the winger penned an extension until 2020 last year.
In a recent interview, Adkins was quoted to have said, “You just don’t sell him. We’re not looking to sell him. (No bids), not that I’m aware of.
“I’m pleased we won the game, we deserved it, we had a lot of opportunities and I’m pleased we took two, we could have taken more.”
Everton has recently made a swoop for Cenk Tosun from Besiktas and Theo Walcott from Arsenal with a potential addition of Bowden on the cards, which could bolster Sam Allardyce’s attacking options going into the second half of their campaign. The Blues of Merseyside are currently in 9th place in the Premier League standings, six points behind Leicester City who are sitting in 7th place. Allardyce could be on the lookout for a new attacking option in the transfer market to try and bridge the gap between themselves and the Premier League’s Top 6 clubs in the coming seasons.
Bowden has scored 11 goals in 27 league matches for Hull City this season in all competitions. At 21, he still has his peak years ahead of him, which the Merseysiders can look to utilise in the near future. Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of the 21-year-old Hull starlet.
