Everton could only churn out a solitary point from their clash against Alan Pardew’s West Bromwich Albion. The Baggies took an early lead, courtesy to Jay Rodriguez’s goal, but the Toffees managed to balance the score sheet after Oumar Niasse banged one past Ben Foster in the second half.
Here is how Sam Allardyce’s side fared against Albion today at the Goodison Park.
Everton Player Ratings
Jordan Pickford 7/10
Pickford can certainly not be blamed for the goal conceded by him and the custodian made some solid saves throughout the game to rescue a point for his side.
Jonjoe Kenny 5/10
Kenny linked up well with Walcott on plenty of occasions but he did misplace a lot of passes which jeopardised the safety of his side many times.
Mason Holgate 5/10
The centre-back appeared to be timorous more often than not against the likes of Salomon Rondon and Rodriguez and certainly didn’t look convincing today.
Ashley Williams 6.5/10
The former Swansea City defender took some time to find his feet in the game and although his performance in the first-half was questionable, he improved during the second-half.
Cuco Martina 4/10
Matt Phillips made Martina look laughable at times as he really struggled to make his presence felt at the left-back slot.
Morgan Schneiderlin 5/10
Schneiderlin was sluggish in the middle, for he failed to carry the team forward to engineer attacking endeavours. The Frenchman even failed to cope up with the Gareth Barry and Grzegorz Krychowiak in the middle.
James McCarthy 6/10
He looked lively in the middle as he cultivated a lot of energy for Allardyce’s side until he was substituted after his injury.
Theo Walcott 8/10
The newcomer from Arsenal was absolutely dazzling in attack and showed a lot of intent whilst going forward. His dribbling seemed impeccable and was arguably the best player for Everton today.
Gylfi Sigurdsson 7/10
The former Swansea City midfielder looked to create chances and appeared to be comfortable on the ball.
Nikola Vlasic 4/10
Rightfully replaced after the half-time, Vlasic must be utterly disappointed with his outing today as he squandered a lot of opportunities. His movements were predictable and he thoroughly failed to add fierceness in the final third.
Cenk Tosun 6/10
The striker looked isolated up front but his first touches, until being replaced in the second-half, were quite superb.
Substitutions
Yannick Bolasie 4/10
Bolasie replaced Vlasic at the start of the second-half but was far from weaving anything substantial.
Wayne Rooney 7/10
The veteran Englishman brought a lot of freshness after coming on for McCarthy and orchestrated the midfield. He jotted a great cross in the build-up for the equaliser.
Oumar Niasse 7/10
Niasse replaced Tosun and scored the equalising goal for his side. He did look lively after coming on.
