Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has expressed his desire to work under Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. According to recent reports in the Spanish press, the 28-year-old has confessed that he is interested to work with the German manager in the future. It is understood that Kroos is increasingly frustrated at Los Blancos after their highly disappointing start to their La Liga title defence.
The Spanish giants are currently 19 points behind their rivals and league leaders Barcelona which has left him dejected and pondering on his future at Madrid. Some sources in Spain have claimed that the German international has a number of offers lined up for him to leave the Spanish capital. The same report suggests that Kroos is eager to switch clubs and play under his fellow countryman and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
The midfielder has reportedly been informed by his teammates that the Reds manager is fantastic to play under, which has piqued his interest. The same source in Spain also states that Klopp is among a whole host of potential future managers with whom Kroos wants to work with, which also includes Mauricio Pochettino, Joachim Low and Marcelo Gallardo. The 28-year-old playmaker has scored 2 goals and made 4 assists in 24 matches for the Galacticos this season across all competitions.
Real Madrid has struggled this season under manager Zinedine Zidane which has seen them slump to 5th place in the La Liga standings. However, it is highly unlikely that the reigning European champions will parts ways with their French manager this season. Zidane is under contract to stay at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium until the summer of 2020, which indicates that Kroos’ best opportunity to work under Klopp would only be possible if he leaves the Spanish capital.
Some reports emerging in the Spanish press has also touted that the midfielder could be sold in the near future as Real Madrid prepares to fund a move for Neymar. The potential signing of the Brazilian and Paris Saint-Germain star, who switched clubs in the summer for £200m, won’t come cheap. Hence, the likes of Kroos might be sold to help them balance the books.
The German midfielder is under contract until the summer of 2022 so a potential big-money move to Liverpool may not be too far-fetched. The Merseyside club can definitely benefit from having someone of the calibre of Kroos lacing up in their midfield. The German ace’s desire to work with Klopp will make it a mutually beneficial deal that could potentially put an end to the long wait for Premier League success that the Kopites around the world are praying for. Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of the German international.
