Crystal Palace are plotting a move for West Bromwich Albion midfielder Jake Livermore. According to recent reports in the English media, the Eagles are looking to bring in the Baggies midfield enforcer to try and bolster their midfield options going into the second half of their campaign. Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson remains interested in the English midfielder’s signature and could make an offer for him before the transfer window comes to a close at the end of this month.
Livermore joined the Hawthorns-based side from Hull City in the winter transfer window of 2017. He has featured in 26 appearances for the Baggies this season but is yet to score for the club so far. However, he has one assist to his name during his West Brom career. The former Tottenham Hotspur player is highly versatile and can operate in a number of different positions which include playing as a holding midfielder at the centre of the park or in defence as a central defender.
The 28-year-old has put in some tireless performances in the Baggies midfield this term which includes his excellent performance at Anfield on Saturday night when the West Midlands club came back from a goal down to secure a deserved 3-2 win in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Crystal Palace are currently sitting on 13th place in the Premier League table with a tally of 25 points after 24 league matches in this campaign. They have been in sensational form in the league since Roy Hodgson’s appointment as the club’s new manager in September last year. The Eagles have made a remarkable turnaround in recent months but are still not out of relegation trouble with just three points separating them from the drop zone. The Selhurst-based club could do with some clever additions in this January transfer period.
The potential recruitment of Livermore will definitely boost their midfield options going into the second half of their season with games coming thick and fast in the Premier League.
Livermore’s tireless work ethic and versatility could turn out to be a key asset for the Eagles if they can win the race to sign him before the end of the month. He might be an integral member who can save them from getting dragged into a potential relegation dogfight in the coming months. It remains to be seen if they are successful in pursuit of the English midfielder’s signature with the transfer deadline fast approaching.
