It seems that Chelsea are determined on bringing in all three brothers of the Hazard family together at the club. Chelsea who already have the eldest Hazard, Eden, on board as their star man had signed the youngest professional in the Hazard family, Kylian last summer and is now reportedly close to re-signing Thorgan Hazard from Germany.
Thorgan moved to Chelsea back in 2012 and stayed in the club till 2015. However, in his three-year spell, he failed to make his mark at the club and could never make the cut into the first team. His loan spell at Borussia Monchengladbach did earn him a few admirers and in February 2015 Thorgan completed a permanent transfer to the German club. He has gone on to make 69 appearances for them scoring 16 goals in the process and has proven himself to be a good player.
As for the Blues, after Chelsea’s failure in the summer transfer window, the club is lacking the squad depth needed to challenge for multiple trophies. Chelsea recently signed Ross Barkley from Everton and would hope to appease Antonio Conte further by bringing in Thorgan Hazard. Conte’s switch to a 3-5-2 formation this season has left Chelsea short of players in their attacking positions.
Chelsea currently has Pedro, Hazard, Willian and young Charly Musonda as the wingers in the senior team. While Hazard is a star and untouchable in the first team, the same cannot be said for the rest of the three options. Musonda is very clearly a backup option opted for by Conte due to lack of summer signings and has had very little time on the pitch leaving his Chelsea future in doubt.
The case for Pedro and Willian is that both players are highly inconsistent and have a habit of disappearing from matches. While Pedro still fights and puts in an effort to make something happen, Willian simply overcomplicates matters for himself every time he gets the ball. The Brazilian does not release the ball soon enough and cannot be counted as a first team starter by any margin. Although Willian has improved his game after a below standard start to his season, he is still far off from playing twice a week at the top level and Pedro despite his efforts is not the man who can add the quality Chelsea need at the top.
This might prompt Hazard to move to the west London club where he is likely to get a lot more game time as compared to last time when he failed to make a single first-team appearance.
