Recent reports from Spainish outlet Don Balon, as reported by the Express claims that Chelsea have placed a bid for Real Madrid’s Isco in the dying minutes of the transfer window. Liverpool might be in the running too but the Blues would like nothing better but to get their hands on the Spanish maestro.
The 25-year-old has reinvented himself under the guidance of Zinedine Zidane over the past couple of years and has successfully overtaken the number one spot away from James Rodriguez. The Columbian international had to find a different side to play for and has taken his talents to Bayern Munich.
However, with less than 4 hours left in the transfer window, it is highly unlikely a deal will go through especially with Chelsea’s inability to examine the player at the club grounds. No reports have emerged linking Isco to a probable club exit or making his way to the Madrid airport.
Chelsea have been on the lookout for an attacking midfielder for some time now and have got their man in Ross Barkley. They have also signed Olivier Giroud for £21m from rivals, Arsenal and might just have successfully concluded their business for the time being.
However, it looks like Alvaro Morata might have also played a part in linking the club with his former Spain U23 teammate. The duo has been close ever since their childhood playing days and have been together through their journey of turning into full-fledged professionals. It is no secret that Morata has struggled in front of goal for Chelsea this season, which indirectly prompted the Blues to pursue a competent second choice option behind the Spaniard.
Chelsea’s ambitions lie in finishing the season in the top four and putting a solid display in the FA Cup. However, Antonio Conte has realized that he can no longer rely solely on the former Galactico to lead the attacking lineup day in day out.
Isco is a talent of his own and there is no guarantee that Morata’s goalless drought will end right after his arrival. Morata has received a decent amount of quality service from his teammates but has failed miserably to convert the all-important chances. Returning his game to top-pedigree standards rests on his shoulders alone as he will look to do just that after he gets back to full fitness.
Chelsea bowed out of the EFL League Cup last week but are still hopeful of going past Barcelona in the round of 16 of the Champions League. Their transfer window has been a roaring success and the team is well poised to charge through the final stretch of the season.
However, a player like Isco can be the icing on the cake for what has been a fairly successful transfer window but only time will tell whether the reigning Premier League champions are able to secure the services of the Spanish midfield maestro or not. Here at T4O, we are simply confident that no matter how insane this January transfer window has been, there is no way Isco will leave Real Madrid at this juncture.
