Transfer Speculation
As per one of the latest reports by The Daily Mail, Celtic are perceived to be on the verge of finalising Charly Musonda’s entry to the Celtic Park. The report states that the Glasgow giants are keen to manoeuvre an 18-month loan deal with Chelsea and have beaten La Liga outfit, Leganes, in their pursuit of luring him out of the Stamford Bridge.
Fact File
Musonda emerged through the youth ranks of Anderlecht and Chelsea and was gradually promoted to the senior side of the Blues. He was shipped out on loan to Real Betis to brush himself further in the January transfer window of 2016 and he spent a year with the Spanish side. Although he showed great promises during his time with Betis, he has found very limited opportunities under Antonio Conte.
Attributes
The 21-year-old is a typical no.10 but is capable of plying his trade from either wing. He is dynamic and has raw pace in his legs that enable him to pop up in the right areas and create havoc in the defence of the opposition. He works tirelessly on the pitch, positions himself well and has the calibre to create an adequate amount of chances for his teammates.
Although he has to sharpen his shooting skills, it has to be noted that he is still young and will only get better by accumulating more game time under his belt. His movements on and off the ball are appealing to watch and he has the required vision to engineer goals for his employers. A move to Celtic, apparently, seems the next big move he should make.
Where Will He Play At Celtic?
With Tom Rogic still sidelined owing to his knee injury, Musonda could be pencilled in the no.10 position under the tactical nous of Brendan Rodgers. Injuries have taken a toll on Celtic this season as Patrick Roberts and Jonny Hayes are also sidelined. The Bhoys have only two fit wingers in the shapes of Scott Sinclair and James Forrest, and Musonda’s versatility might urge Rodgers to use him from either wing.
The Belgian starlet can gallop past the defenders and jot down scrumptious crosses, and thus, he could be more than a decent commodity in the wide areas. The former Liverpool boss does give the youngster the pedestal to thrive, with Kieran Tierney and Moussa Dembele being prime examples and thus, Musonda should be able to develop more by making a move to the ranks of the Hoops rather than stagnating at Chelsea.
